The Leadership Council For Human Rights

Defending human rights across the globe

About

Founded in 2001 by Kathryn Cameron Porter, The Leadership Council for Human Rights (LCHR) has been a leading voice in defending persecuted communities worldwide. With over 40 years of experience in congressional leadership, international advocacy, and on-the-ground human rights work, LCHR bridges the gap between vulnerable populations and decision-makers in Washington, DC. Our organization serves as a catalyst for both human rights and human responsibilities, working across the Middle East, North Africa, Central and South America, Eastern Europe, and Asia to ensure that no voice goes unheard in the fight for justice and dignity.

Vision

We envision a world where every person, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or background, can live with dignity, freedom, and equal rights. Through our work, we strive to create lasting change by ensuring that the voices of the most vulnerable are heard at the highest levels of power, and that human rights violations are met with swift, effective action from a united global community.

Mission

The Leadership Council for Human Rights (LCHR) defends and amplifies the voices of persecuted ethnic and religious communities worldwide. Through our "feet in the mud, head in the sky" approach, we work directly with vulnerable populations on the ground while bringing their stories and struggles to decision-makers in Washington, DC. We build coalitions, provide training and resources, and cast light on hidden injustices to create a more inclusive and effective human rights movement.
